A Discretized Version of Kaluza-klein Theory with Torsion and Massive Fields
نویسنده
چکیده
We consider an internal space of two discrete points in the fifth dimension of the Kaluza-Klein theory by using the formalism of noncommutative geometry developed in a previous paper [1] of a spacetime supplemented by two discrete points. With the nonvanishing internal torsion 2-form there are no constraints implied on the vielbeins. The theory contains a pair of tensor, a pair of vector and a pair of scalar fields. Using the generalized Cartan structure equation we are able not only to determine uniquely the hermitian and metric compatible connection 1-forms, but also the nonvanishing internal torsion 2-form in terms of vielbeins. The resulting action has a rich and complex structure, a particular feature being the existence of massive modes. Thus the nonvanishing internal torsion generates a Kaluza-Klein type model with zero and massive modes. ∗ On leave of absence from the High Energy Division, Centre of Theoretical Physics, P.O.Box 429 Bo Ho 10000, Hanoi Vietnam. † Address after September 1, 1995: Physics Department, Rockerfeller University, New York, NY, USA

The massive Elko spinor field in the de Sitter braneworld model
The Elko spinor field is a spin 1/2 fermionic quantum field with a mass dimension introduced as a candidate of dark matter. In this work, we study the localization of Elko fields on a de Sitter thick brane constructed by a canonical or phantom scalar field. By presenting the mass-independent potentials of Kaluza-Klein (KK) modes in the corresponding Schrödinger equations, it is shown that the E...
متن کاملAn Example Giving Hope That Kaluza-klein-like Theories Lead to Massless Spinors *
Kaluza-Klein-like theories seem to have difficulties with the existence of massless spinors after the compactification of a part of space [1,2]. We show on an example of a flat torus with a torsion as a compactified part of an even dimensional space that a Kaluza-Klein charge can be defined, commuting with the operator of handedness for this part of space, which by marking (real) representation...
متن کاملConsistent supersymmetric Kaluza–Klein truncations with massive modes
We construct consistent Kaluza–Klein reductions of D = 11 supergravity to four dimensions using an arbitrary seven-dimensional Sasaki–Einstein manifold. At the level of bosonic fields, we extend the known reduction, which leads to minimal N = 2 gauged supergravity, to also include a multiplet of massive fields, containing the breathing mode of the Sasaki– Einstein space, and still consistent wi...
متن کاملSpin Gauge Theory of Gravity in Clifford Space: A Realization of Kaluza-Klein Theory in 4-Dimensional Spacetime
A theory in which 4-dimensional spacetime is generalized to a larger space, namely a 16-dimensional Clifford space (C-space) is investigated. Curved Clifford space can provide a realization of Kaluza-Klein theory without a need of adding extra dimensions to the underlying spacetime. A covariant Dirac equation in curved C-space is explored. The generalized Dirac field is assumed to be a polyvect...
متن کاملUniversal Features of Dimensional Reduction Schemes from General Covariance Breaking
Many features of dimensional reduction schemes are determined by the breaking of higher dimensional general covariance associated with the selection of a particular subset of coordinates. By investigating residual covariance we introduce lower dimensional tensors, that successfully generalize to one side Kaluza-Klein gauge fields and to the other side extrinsic curvature and torsion of embedded...
